This was required as the product was very unstable on an uneven floor, where the bottom of the drawers could be seen flexing much more than they should be. The two metal brackets were fixed to increase the stability of the product.
2. The drawers are made of a strong MDF and have metal handles and hinges making it a very sturdy product.
The first evaluation was carried out by dropping a load cell onto one of the drawers, which had been pushed in slightly to create this force. The drawer showed absolutely no flexing in any direction whatsoever, which lead to it being classified as extremely good from a strength point of view. It indicates that the drawers are strong enough to stand up to the average child putting heavy items in them, without showing any signs of damage.
3. The top surface has been finished with a princess-themed sticker.
From a design point of view, this suggests that even though the product is aimed at children and not adults, it adheres to overall design guidelines to be suitable for both children and adults. The finish also ties in with decorating standards and ‘Dresser’ just sounds more authoritative than ‘Dresser and Stool’.
